A girl born with a rare genetic disorder that makes her look much older than is actually believed to be the only person in the world with her condition.
2-year-old Isla Kilpatrick-Screaton, from Leicester, has a unique kind of mandibuloacral dyspuccia.
The situation, which starts before birth, is also known as the “Benjamin Button” because it causes rapid cell aging.
Her parents, Stacey Kilpatrick and Kyle Screaton, were shocked when doctors told her they should search the Internet because they had little information on her condition.
It weighs only six pounds and is unable to speak. Isla communicates through sign language and forms of her bones are distorted by disorder.
Screaton said that the family has now accepted her situation and called her a <x0 maternal” jokingly. Isla has just begun to crawl and can say very few words.
