Medjide Demolli-Niman, executive director of the FOL Movement, said this is the 11th year that FOL shares such a price in the presence of FOL friends and supporters during these years. “We are all aware of the state of education in Kosovo, which unfortunately is very low. We all mention reform is needed, but no one launched a real reform in this area except Mr. Staying Kastrati, mayor of the municipality of Kamenica, who is the winner of the Citizen Courage Award for 2019”, she said. But according to her, she was not alone on all this journey. The “Stand back was also a great help that had offered to the Association of former graduates from the Transforming Leadership Programme, which through research and proposals has helped the municipality to become better-organization”, she said.
Meanwhile, Leonora Kryeziu, a member of the FOL Movement Consultative Board, said that the courage to start such reform must be highly praised and not taken as an example by other municipalities as well. “Education in Kosovo needs a real reform, as the municipality of Kamenica has done, so such an example would have to be taken so that the education system in Kosovo could advance”, Kryeziu said.
Staying Kastrati, mayor of the Kamenica municipality, said that price only motivates him more in the direction he has started to improve the education system in his municipality. “We are facing more problems, but such reform has been more than necessary”, he said. According to him, great help in the whole process has provided the Association of former graduates from the Transforming Leadership Programme without which it would not be possible to do so.
Meanwhile, on behalf of the association of former graduates from the Reform Leadership Programme spoke, Alban Krasniqi, who said that association representing coaxes around the very young professionals who are able to assist Kosovo, following studies that have ended in the United States. “It has been a pleasure to have worked together with the mayor of Kamenica and to have entrusted us with a lot of confidence in the expertise we have offered under the reforms he had started”, Krasniqi said.
