Family of missing persons have local flower wreaths today near the obelisk of missing persons in Pristina square. They have urged internationals to pressure Serbia so that it can show where their most loved ones are missing in the recent war in Kosovo.
In the homazhe, family members have also joined representatives of institutions, among them Glauk Konjufca, who for the first time was presented as Kosovo Assembly Speaker, who said Serbia should put this issue in negotiations.
Family members, tired in 20 years of waiting for a news story about the remains of their deadliest loved ones in the last war in Kosovo, came out today to close in 2019 with the only request they now have for two decades -- whitewashing the fate of missing persons.
They say Serbia's president, Alexander Vuciq, knows where the troops are, so internationals should pressure to close the issue.
Every single mother, even the last breath when she gives it, gives it for children, thinks of that spirit when she gives it and does it for children. It's going to be as far as it can be, and we won't stay, we have to come together, but I have a very big message, for God's sake, you who haven't let the children wander into the house, let them enjoy tomorrow”, to Bajram Qerkina, who heads the union “Parents' voice “
They were also joined by Glauk Konjufca of Vetevendosje, who was formerly elected head of the Kosovo Assembly.
He said that in the future more needs to be done in whitewashing the fate of missing persons, stressing that this issue will be a kind of condition in negotiations with Serbia.
The “has been made some effort to make their fate shine, but I think that in the future there must be more, even from the institutions of Kosovo, even from any political and institutional official of the state, and from the Republic of Kosovo, to raise their voices wherever we are, even in future negotiations with Serbia, so that this is a kind of condition of the Republic of Kosovo that those responsible for the loss of life and the disappearance of family and loved ones give responsibility to justice first, and return the troops of your family. We will always try to be in charge of doing what is required of us”, he said.
E Jahja Luka, co-ordinator for missing persons at Haradinaj Government, said that until the last person is found, institutions should not agree with anyone.
The “You are certainly disappointed, both with institutions and with the government and all others, until you now wait 20 years for your relatives until the last human institutions of Kosovo are found, they should not agree with anyone. Crime doesn't age, it can be fooled, but we have a lot of work to do with you, with all the institutions, I think we can do more. This year we have 27 excavations, unfortunately we only have 11 findings, because we're often having the wrong information. 21 years has changed much besides the terrain, even the memory of people who normally weaken, but we will not stop”, he said.
While Prenk Lokaj, chairman of the Government Commission for Undiscovered Persons, said Serbia knows the address of their event, it only requires international pressure.
“Andresis we know, so I repeat, the international community has a special role and can help us with the pressure that can be done to those who know and are able to find those who are missing during the war”, he said.
In Kosovo, more than 1600 missing persons are still unknown in Kosovo in the last war in Kosovo.
