Bolivia's Armed Forces Commander Williams Calliman said the army had suggested Morales resign to help ensure stability in the state.
“After analyzing internal conflict in the country, we urged the president to give up his presidential mandate in order to restore peace and preserve the stability of Bolivia,” told reporters.
Protests and riots in Bolivia began after elections in late October, in which Evo Morales won, and three people have been killed in riots so far, with more than 300 injured.
