The agreement guarantees a basic pension for low-income workers after months of tensions over the issue, which has been able to bring crisis to the government.
The ruling coalition members, including Chancellor Angela Merkel and Finance Minister Olaf Scholz, reached an agreement during talks lasting more than six hours, Reuters reports.
A basic pension will be an addition to pensions, which should ensure that those receiving the lowest income are able to cover the basic expenses of monthly living.
The German Government plan will also cover employees with the lowest incomes, who care for children or relatives without specifying details.
The condition for receiving this benefit of cash will be that the person has paid social security contributions for at least 35 years.
The plan, which includes those who receive less than 1,250 euros or couples who receive together no more than 1,950 euros a month, will come into force in 2021.
