6.8m euros, $3.6m and 156m is the amount donated so far for residents affected by the earthquake in Albania.

The dramatic earthquake that struck Albania, marking at least 47 victims until the evening, was followed by extraordinary solidarity among Albanians.

Thousands of ordinary citizens and businessmen from Albania, Kosovo and the diaspora, but even foreign citizens, have donated money and assistance to residents affected in Thumana and Durres.

It is reported that only through page “Gound Me” and Facebook have been donated about $3.6m by Wednesday afternoon.

Gifts By é Gound Me '%s' has come from 76 different states, where most are diaspora Albanians.

A major role in collecting these donations has been having two Albanian charity organisations “Otherwise” with 1.4m dollars and “Albanians for Albanians” with $590 thousand.

The initiative to donate was joined by prominent businessmen from Albania and Kosovo. The first to donate 1m euros was Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister and businessman Behgjet Pacolli. In addition to the donated sum, he offered to shelter in Pristina, even hundreds of families affected by the earthquake.

Shortly after publicising Behgjet Pacolli's donation, another Albanian businessman joined the initiative to donate. Shefqet Kastrati was solidified with earthquake-affected ones, contributing a total of 1.5m euros, while calling on all rich people to donate.

Immediately after Shefqet Kastrat's contribution, Rinas Airport has donated 1 million Euro-state to the Albanian state, joining financial contributions to the recovery of all affected areas.

On the other hand, in addition to helping soldiers and rescue teams, the Kosovo government awarded a fund of 500 thousand euros to Albania.

Full of 500 thousand euros has also donated the Soros Foundation to Albania, while Austria has donated 600 thousand euros and North Macedonia 100,000 euros. Donations have also been held by several municipalities in Kosovo. Contributions have also been made by I Love Lipa, Bebe Rexha and Rita Ora.

A significant $1.2m has been collected by the organisation “Albanian forces” based in New York via Facebook. The organisation's leader, Marko Cape, said the money would go for new residences for families left homeless.

Even the Albanian government has opened an online platform where it can be donated to earthquake victims. According to official information, by Thursday afternoon through this platform, 156m euros, 1.6m euros and $250,000 were donated.

In addition to financial donations, hundreds of Kosovo Albanians and Albania have opened the doors to homes affected by the earthquake.

Albania really faced a strong earthquake, but solidarity among Albanians after the earthquake has been even stronger.
