Kamenica municipality cut off for school closure, tribunal to be addressed

The closure of schools in the municipality of Kamenica is being conveyed with numerous controversy. The parents are the ones who are opposing this reform initiated by Chairman Standin Kastrati, while the latter refuses to withdraw, even warning that the Court will also address the case.

Opposition to the closure of these schools has also been followed by protests.

As of yesterday, residents of Busavata and Kamenica Krilev have protested in front of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to counter the closure of four schools in this municipality.

Parents in the villages of Busavata and Krilev are not even allowing their children to continue teaching in schools where they are assigned to the municipality's decision.

While, school students “hasan Pristina” in Busavata will follow lessons at school “Fan.S. Noli”

In a written response to news.net from the Kamenica municipality's media office have said that according to the ministry, students risk losing the year, so they say they have no choice but to address the Court.

“Comuna has made efforts that through discussions with residents and parents, who have met several times, the leadership of reorganising the educational system for students. According to the Ministry, students risk losing their year. We have no choice but to address the court, because the Law stipulates that compulsory schooling is the common responsibility of municipalities, parents and not only”, says the Kamenica municipality's response.

They also say the position on reforming education in the Kamenica municipality is unchanged and is one of the issues where there is no compromise.

On the other side during yesterday, the representative of Busavat village parents, Feim Maliqi during the protest, has said parents have been blackmailed by Kamenica chairman just because they are insisting that schools not be closed.

Maliqi said that as parents in protest, they have made the decision not to follow the teaching process.
