Romania supports dialogue and the necessity of securing an agreement in line with the basic EU values, said Romania's liaison office chief in Pristina, Daniel Onsor.
According to him, the Romanian Presidency of the European Union Council priority is finding common ground for progress.
On the other hand, the chief of the EU Office in Kosovo, Nataliya Apostolova, said authorities should ensure quality education and legal security.
Romania's Interconnecting Office chief Daniel Onesor has stressed that Romania supports dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo for an agreement in line with European values.
In his view, however, both parties must avoid actions that cannot reach the agreement.
“We want to stress that our approach during the presidency will be an honest mediator, regardless of the national position on Kosovo's status. As you are aware, this positive approach on our part makes it possible to start a feasibility study, which ended with the signing of a Stabilisation and Association Agreement, the start of procedures for visa liberalisation, and can continue with examples. Romania supports dialogue and the necessity of securing an agreement in line with basic EU values. Social harmony and respect for members of national minorities are part of these values. In particular, we believe it is important for both sides and political relevans to abstain from any gesture that undermines the possibility of reaching a” agreement, he said.
Showing thus the priorities of Romania's presidency in Pristina, he said, among other things, that given the prospect of European elections in May, it would matter efforts to advance and close more legislative files in the first months of the mandate.
Our task as Presidency “will be to find common ground for progress. We are convinced that the key to this road is cohesion, and therefore we have chosen it for our motto and the central theme of our presidency of cohesion as a common European value”, he said.
While the chief of the EU Office in Kosovo, Natalia Apostolova, said it is a pleasure to see that the Romanian Presidency's priority is the ongoing focus of EU enlargement, which according to it is very good for Kosovo and the Balkan region as a whole.
We all want Kosovo to succeed and be happy with any progress made. We want to see this year so that people can build a good future for themselves and their children. We care for cohesion in Europe and that means finding a common basis for progress in Kosovo as part of Europe”, Apostolova has said.
She said, among other things, that stability, political, economic and social development is necessary. Citing EU investments in Kosovo to realise these priorities. /21Media
