Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Serbia's Aleksandar Vuciq, in Alpbach, Austria, have officially begun discussing ideas for border changes. They still fear that such an idea could lead to a new conflict, writes Brussels' Political, Periscopi broadcasts. Such an idea they have [...]
Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq and Kosovo President Hashim Thaci have had an open discussion at the forum held in Alpbachım over the topic of changing borders under the historic agreement between the two countries.
So writes Brussels portal, Political.
This portal writes that just a few weeks ago, both sides have introduced the idea of changing borders, but according to Political on Saturday, in the Alpbach formula, the focus of the two presidents also marks the beginning of discussing this idea openly (the idea of changing borders) in front of the international community, Periscopi broadcasts.
None of the two presidents have provided more details about what might be discussed further on this subject, writes Politicalo.
Both Thaci and Vuciq are trying to emilillate the fear that such an idea can cause violence again.
Serbia and Kosovo's “President of Serbia and Kosovo have made it clear Saturday that they are considering changing borders as an idea to reach historic agreement and have called on the international community to support this effort, writes Politicalo, broadcast Periscopi.
Such statements, made on a panel discussion in Austria, have embarrassed the European Union, as both leaders have opposed such a thing for a long time because such an idea is always under fear of being provoked to bloodshed as in the 1990s.
Commissioner Hahn has said that nothing can be discussed at this point regarding this matter”, but has told the presidents that no agreement dare lead to the destabilisation of the region, Periscopi broadcasts.
The portal concludes that Thaci and Vuciq are on a very friendly side, as far as Vuciq has said in Alpbach that Thaci does not like it, or that it is not the one who likes Thaci, but they have spoken and asked EU countries and Washington to allow dealt with the already forgotten topic of borders.
According to this portal, the most controversial part of this scenario -- that is, of changing borders -- could be to give up a northern part of Mitrovica Serbia and join the Presevo Valley of Kosovo.
The article also writes that Vuciq has criticised the international community's response to discussing these ideas, saying the West wants to impose its wishes on Serbs and Albanians.
In this regard, Hahn has stated that peace and stability are needed in the region, and fears that changing borders can have a domino effect.
Politicalo writes that the United States, which does not have a major diplomatic role in the talks between Belgrade and Pristina, but for high democratic values in the region, they are not against the idea to discuss changing borders. /Periscopi/
