Behram had said she was excluded from Swiss representative Vladimir Petkovic.
In an interview for “RSI Sport”, Behram on August 6th, said he had accepted a call from Petkoviqi on what he had expelled from the nationals. Behram has called this a political decision. Petkovhqi said the decision was only a sport.
I thought it was a normal call, but instead he expelled me. This is a political election, the coach can say anything”, Behram said.
Behram, 33-year-old Kosovo-born, played in Serbia's win at the World Championship, where other Swiss players Gerdan Shaqiri, Granit Jaka and Stephan Lichtsteiner were fined by FIFA for making the symbol of the two-headed eagle as goals celebrations.
Despite suggestions from Swiss Football Federation Secretary General (ASF) Alex Miescher that two national players should not be allowed to play for representatives, Petkoviqi insists that the decision to put out some old players for the next League of Nations matches was for football reasons.
“I don't have the right to retire players, only to select or not a player”, Petkovi said at a media conference, according to Swiss news agency ATS.
I just wanted to inform some players that I'm going to use live matches to enable others, so that I can know who I have available when I choose my team for next year's Euro 2020” qualifications, he stressed, broadcast Time.net.
Even the Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder, Gelson Fernandes, retired from the representative after discovering that she will be left out for the opening match for the League of Nations against Iceland on September 8th.
“Everyone understood (my reasonableness), Gelson even expected him to retire, all except, unfortunately, Valon”, Petkovqi added.
I'm sorry for him, he doesn't deserve this after everything he gave for team”.
On Friday, ASF President Peter Gillerion admitted there were mistakes and stressed that he would no longer run for the post with his mandate completed in May.
