Vucic made these comments during a political activity in Belgrade, commenting on speculations in the media, but also statements by various political representatives in Serbia about sending a thousand Serb troops to Kosovo, according to Security Council Resolution 1244.

He said he was sometimes warned about the issue.

If you tried to join your army in Kosovo, with your police in Kosovo, in any way, NATO will address this as an act of hostility and will come into conflict with the largest military power in Kosovo”, he quoted senior Western officials as saying, broadcast the Voice of America.

This is what I'm saying because of our people”, he said, underlining that he wants to clarify to his citizens that Resolution 1244 does not care, but only their actual power and state”.

According to him, this narrows Serbia's position, which “should strive to preserve peace and security and build a better life and a stronger economy for its citizens”.

He said the talks are the only solution, while criticising the Kosovo government's platform for talks with Serbia.

“When you read that platform, you see that they have left no millimeters, not even one percent space for any agreement”, he said, underlining that he is not optimistic about talks expected to be held in Brussels, but Serbia, he said, will do everything to reach a compromise.

The Kosovo government's eight-point platform envisions the talks ending with mutual recognition by respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity, Kosovo's membership in the United Nations Organisation, as well as supporting and ensuring implementation of the agreement by the European Union and the United States of America.

Kosovo and Serbia are expected to resume talks this month, in a bid to pave the way for reaching a binding legal agreement for normalising relations between them. The European Union's plans for a technical summit during the week that would pave the way for a political summit have changed. Belgrade wants the association of Serb majority municipalities to be the main topic of talks, while Pristina stresses that it will not talk about anything unless all agreements are implemented.

The initial technical talks between Kosovo and Serbia began in 2011. In April 2013 Kosovo and Serbia reached the first agreement on normalising relations that included a range of issues, after which talks were largely held on its implementation routes. The so-called talks assured Serbia of the opening of membership negotiations in the European Union, while Kosovo assured the Stabilisation and Association Agreement. But it continues to be the last in European integration processes.

A comprehensive agreement on normalising relations is a condition for both countries for integration into the European Union.
