The Kosovo Government's joint meeting with Macedonia's government is expected to be held soon, as almost all preparations from the Kosovo side are complete.
This will be the first meeting of Kosovo's cabinet with Zoran Zaev's Macedonian, in which the two governments will sign a host of bilateral agreements.
For this meeting, Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj says that as far as the contents of the package of agreements to be signed, the main work is finished.
He has stressed that now part of them are in the phase of completing internal procedures in respective countries.
“I am satisfied with the dynamics of organisation, co-ordination and meetings we have held between the two co-ordinating teams since January of this year, carrying out bilateral visits to Skopje, Pristina and Kacanik”, Hoxhaj has said of Indexline.
According to him, there are about 15 agreements expected to be signed from the field of justice, security, health, economy to the agreement on mutual recognition of drivers between the two countries.
Another very important development that Hoxhaj has been dealing with since the first day is the return to the agenda of an almost dead project between the two countries that has to do with the opening of the Stanciq-Bellanoc joint border point, according to the IBM model, which is the first of this type between the two countries and construction will be funded on the part of the EU.
“Therefore, I am happy to confirm very soon the work will begin and facilitate the free movement of citizens on both sides of the border of Kumanovo and areas, as well as beyond”, Hoxhaj added.
As for when the meeting will take place, the deputy prime minister voiced confidence that one will happen this month.
“We are in the final stages of co-ordinating the agenda and setting dates. We are seeing a day that also fits the agendas of our prime ministers and governments since there is no other obstacle to carrying. We are aiming to have a date during June if it applies to the Macedonian side, since the government in Skopje may have another intensive agenda related to negotiations for the name and opening negotiations with the EU for membership”, Hoxhaj stressed.
Although the two countries have not yet spoken of any specific place where the meeting will be held, Hoxhaj said the Kosovo side intends it will be held in Macedonia.
