The design that was published on Saturday, along with the new technical sponsor and has since raised numerous reactions, from fan objections to an online petition for the withdrawal of this logo, has even been warned of a protest.
With logo publication, however, a major scandal has erupted in addition to reactions. The winner of the competition is the son-in-law of the CEO for marketing. Diturie Hoxha, marketing director admits that her son-in-law is the winner, but claims to the Institute that “did not know that it was about him since the competition works were delivered in envelopes and were in numbers of”.
Hoxha, who was even earlier involved in financial scandals with the FFK, allegedly with a suspected contract for selling tickets to the match between Kosovo and Croatia, does not think there were any irregularities in the contest.
The Institute has also contacted members of the commission that assessed the logos, who claim that the commission's work has been regular and that 3-4 options were sent to the Executive Committee for approval, while the committee has chosen the winning logo.
The only designer who was part of the Eronita Klaiqi Kasumi Commission said that “as we had no desire to shoot the winner close to Dituri (Diturie Hoxha), but we have nothing to do. I'm sure the logo will represent us very well”, she confirmed and denied speculation that it worked at one of the companies where Diturie Hoxha previously held high office.
Failed to warn NFK lawsuit
The Insport has also contacted one of the designers who has competed with its FFK logo design, which claims that he was actually stolen from the logo and the initial idea, and then it's “processed” by winner Sali Musliu, the son-in-law of Diturie Hoxha.
I intend to file charges for copyright and intellectual property violations. I have evidence from the people involved that the competition has been irregular and that my logo has been copied and “processed”, so that someone could win another”, says of Inport Mumin Nexhipi.
Nexhipi, one of the prominent designers in the country, claimed that “if the competition criteria are looked at, the absolute majority of the works did not meet the basic requirements and had to be rejected. The NFFK deserves a serious logo, which can be used to express its corporate identity”.
I'm going to try to have a friendly conversation with people at NFK and see if there's a chance that the competition will be canceled. But if that doesn't happen, then the indictment remains my only option”, he claims.
Competition not cancelled, logo stands at least two years
On the other hand, Kosovo Football Federation Secretary-General Errol Salihu told the Institute that “has been an idea of us involving as many people as possible in the logo selection process, to enable both artists and sports people to compete and express their opinion because it's about a logo that will identify the state teams.
There's more than 160 work in the competition, we've got a commission and we've left their hands free. It's been a condition of us that the logos with helmets, dust and folklore elements belong to the past and we're looking for something new, something modern. We've chosen what he won at the end of the”.
Explaining the significance of the logo, Salihu explained to the Insport that the <x0 disaster in the middle of the logo, or football ball, represents the map of Kosovo, the squares around it represent the damaged fields and meadows we've been playing in the 90s, to come to the stars, where we are currently as members of FIFA's and the number of stars that are understood to correspond to the stars we have on the state flag. The Executive Committee has been pleased with the explanation given and has voted this logo”.
However, Salih, aware of the pressure and reactions of the opinion, claimed that the logo could change only after two years. The Insport guy explained that there's procedure in this.
“We've had fixed deadlines to notify UEFA and send the logo, according to the rules UEFA requires. Even we have broken the deadline and demanded an additional term from U. EFA. The moment we delivered the logo and were approved by the U. EFA, this logo cannot be changed for this two-year-old. However, if there is a desire for opinion, when two years pass, in the first legal term we have the opportunity, we will change the logo by announcing the new” contest, Salihu claimed of the Insport.
