Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, and the Barcelona Side, Ousmane Demuse, have been the target of racist cheering during the St. Petersburg game, which has ended with the victory of France 3:1.
FIFA's disciplinary committee said it was sanctioned by the Russian Federation following a thorough investigation and that the decision was based on “the balance of the incident”.
The punishment comes at a time when Russia is preparing to host the World Football Championship that starts next month.
Alexandr Alayev, a task leader for the Russian Federation chief, said Russia would pay the fine, but that “pains would be covered by those who are guilty of incident”. (REL)
