The state of Kosovo needs at least onem euros a month for daily expenses for prisoners and for detainees. The number of people currently held in Kosovo prisons, according to Corresponding Service officials, reaches 1599 and the daily spending on them totals up to 44,000 euros.
Daily expenses for a prisoner in Kosovo are brought up to 28 euros, and if that amount is calculated with the number of inmates and current detainees, it turns out that much of the state budget goes to the Kosovo Correcting Service.
Over 44,000 euros a day need Kosovo's budget for keeping about 1600 prisoners and detainees currently in prisons.
This budget amounts to more than 1m euros a month depending on the decline or the rising number of prisoners held over a month in all Kosovo prisons.
The senior public communication official from the Kosovo Correcting Service, Jeton Kabashi, has told the newspaper “Voice” that the actual number of prisoners across Kosovo is about 1600.
The number of prisoners in Kosovo's corrective Service institutions is 1599, and daily expenses for a prisoner behave around 28 euros. While monthly expenditures depend on the increase or reduced number of prisoners”, Kabashi has indicated.
