Loriana Kuka has taken care of a perfect end to Kosovo in the Judo Grand Prix tournament from Friday to Sunday has been held in Antalya, Turkey.
The 21-year-old, who is Master Driton Kuka's niece, has made a big surprise by winning the gold medal in the category of up to 78kg, writes today “Koha Ditore”. With Loriana's victory Sunday, the competition in Antalya has become the most successful for Kosovo in the number of medals won.
For the first time, Kosovo tops the list of countries with mostly medals won at the end of a grand tournament. First place after the first day of racing has often been, but never until now at the finish of the race.
That, because there were limited numbers of racers. But Kosovo already has competitors both in the heavy categories and in men. Judists of new categories are shining too, and thus Kosovo has turned into the European superpower of judo.
At the Grand Prix of Antalya, which is the last race before the European and last before the start of the preliminaries for the Olympics, Kosovo won in full three gold and one silver medals. No other country had three golds.
