At least 98 civilians, including 20 children, were killed in the air strikes Monday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
The UK-based group said 470 people were injured, some critically. Seeking to stop the bombing, a UN official said the situation was being anchored out of control.
Almost 400,000 people live in Eastern Ghouta, which has been under siege since 2013. The military is believed to be preparing a ground offensive.
