The Kosovo authorities' decision to transform the Kosovo Security Force into the military is a sovereign decision, and we remain to respect it, the commander of the Joint Allied Command in Naples, Admiral James Foggo, said in Skopje today.
His comments, Admiral Foggo, made at a media conference in Skopje, following a meeting he concluded with Macedonian Defence Minister Radmila Sekerinska.
Asked by AA reporter on claims of forming the Kosovo Army, and the effects that this could have on the stability of the region, Foggo, whose KFOR commander is accountable, said that “Kosovo is a democracy the same as Macedonia and Serbia where citizens vote on persons who make decisions on their behalf”.
From here I think this is a sovereign decision which Kosovo's Assembly will have to make for transforming KSF”, Foggo said.
Admiral said she has been told that the transformation process will last 10 years, to add that it is already his duty to take care of a safe environment and ensure freedom of free movement.
“We are ready for whatever decision will be made this week”, Foggo concluded.
We remember that on Friday, December 14th, the Kosovo Assembly is expected to pass bills for transforming the KSF into the military.
