Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's arrival from Dortmund isn't the only good news for Arsenal on this last day of winter football merkatos. Mesut Ozil has put an end to last months' speculation about his future by signing a new contract of three and a half years to stay at Arsenal until the summer of 2021.
The 29-year-old German mid-fielder thus becomes the most paid player in the history of the London club, earning about 350,000 pounds in a deal reached the morning of this Wednesday.
Ozil risked becoming a free player at the end of the season and could start trying with any foreign club from January 1st this year, but Arsenal managed to successfully close the long-term negotiations.
The deal, according to British media, was reached last weekend and Germany's representative's player signed today at London's “Colney” training centre.
Ozil, who came in the summer of 2013 from the Madrid Real for a record number of <x0-topchinies” at the time of 42.4mm, is expected to extend his career in London in 8 years, until the age of 32.
Since his arrival at Arsenal, the German has scored 36 goals in 182 matches in total, one of the most creative cases for goals in German football.
