80 activists and supporters of the Vetevendosje Movement have made a public appeal to the membership of Movement, leaders of all levels, and especially the General Council and Headship following recent developments in the party. Read it complete:
Dear activists, MPs and Vetevendosje Movement officials, being deeply concerned with internal developments in the Vetevendosje Movement, for several weeks now, we, a group of supporters, sympathisers and activists of the Vetevendosje Movement, call on the entire membership of the Movement, leaders of all levels and, especially, the General Council and headship, to take into account this letter.
Our goal is not to render individual judgments on actions made by any acting individual, official or Movement MP, either now or in the past. We are not driven by any individual and specific action, but only by concern with the internal organisational dynamics and the foreign political developments of the Movement in general.
As supporters and supporters of the Movement every day, we are seeing how public displays of disagreements and disagreements within the Movement are constantly violating and damaging the public and political credibility of the Vetevendosje Movement. We confirm that the Movement has entered a negative internal dynamic, which, although not violating the existence of the Movement as such, is constantly causing damage to its credibility and integrity as political force, especially in a period when Kosovo is facing serious challenges, both in the international political and domestic institutional, social and economic context.
We call on that within the Movement as soon as there is a necessary wake and reshuffle, always respecting the Vetvendosje Movement statute. More specifically, our call to all of the leadership, MPs, members of the General Council and activists of the Vetevendosje Movement is:
- To immediately stop all attacks, accusations, and low personal and groundless institutions directed at any activist, MP, or Movement official, through any medium, as a first step towards overcoming the negative spirit created within the Movement and rebuilding minimal mutual confidence.
- All open issues to be discussed openly and without any obstruction within the Movement's decision-making bodies, both at the helm and at the General Council. We remember that no activists, the official deputy of the Movement can overlook the central decision-making role of the General Council as long as it remains a member of the Vetevendosje Movement. Headship and Council, if necessary, form an independent commission that would examine in fact and objective form all developments within the Movement over the past two years. This commission would have a mandate to come up with concrete proposals for organisational reforms within the Movement. In this way, they could in the future prevent and avoid opportunities for various differences to appear this way by harming the organization. It would also create a spirit of mutual understanding between activists and officials.
- 3) On the eve of the Movement's internal elections, no conditioning, blackmailing and other forms of pressure against running any activist for any post, while this candidacy is in line with the Movement Status. We call on that in domestic elections, instead of energy spent on fostering divisions, this energy will be used to deepen domestic democracy by exploiting the fair and fair competition of ideas and programmes for the future of Movement. This should be done with final respect for the results expressed by the democratic will of all membership, such as normal practice in any democratic political party.
- In all its actions and statements, activists, MPs and Movement officials always take into account that, above their own interests, they represent a popular movement that contains moral and political responsibilities in itself. This movement has created popular enthusiasm and has planted hope for changes, such as no other political force has provided in the country's new history. Therefore, this Movement should not allow the abuse of this belief given by the electorate and voters during the 2017 national and local elections. Any other action only leads to further discreditment of the Movement and dramatic reduction, possibly irreversible, of its potential.
- We are optimistic but not blindly idealistic. We remember and remember that there may be times and moments when disagreements reach those fundamental steps that coexistence within a single political subject becomes impossible. We remain convinced that differences in the movement are generally not of such character. We consider that what is happening in the Vetevendosje Movement is a consequence, primarily, of long-term disputes, created also as a result of the rapid and staggering growth of the Vetevendosje Movement and objective opportunities for sufficient communication within the organisation itself, due to the rapid development of events, including security with elections and constant persecution against Movement activists. However, we consider that even those who eventually see no other way but to separate their political course from the Vetevendosje Movement should do so correctly, politically sincere and by respecting their long-term work and activity within the Movement.
- The movement must wisely manage its decisive power on the country's political scene. It should lead this political energy, for which the people of Kosovo have waited for decades, towards resolving Kosovo's deep problems both in the internal and external plan. We remain confident that this initiative will be understood by all as sympathetic calls and driven by our deep confidence in political projects and in the great social, political and national mission of the Vetevendosje Movement.
