Interior Minister Skender Hyseni in an interview for “Index” stressed that our country is likely to be admitted to INTERPOL. Hyseni has clarified that the Executive Committee of this mechanism has put the General Assembly application of the Republic of Kosovo into the agenda.
“will be voted for our app after criteria are approved. The agent's first point is to approve the criteria for membership, and if approved then it will proceed with the vote of apps of countries that have applied for membership”, he has said.
According to him, this is very good news for Kosovo because the Executive Committee consists of 50% of countries that have recognised Kosovo and 50 that have not recognised our country, so a total of 12 states.
For attending the general assembly, the prime minister and I as minister of Internal Affairs have received a personal invitation. Of course, we are about to prepare to participate in it, but depending on the internal developments that will take place in Kosovo”, it is expressed.
The first MPB shows that it is actively working to garner votes for Kosovo because there are 2/3 of Interpol members who have to vote for me to become a member. However, Hyseni explains that it is a country that can bring trouble to our country.
It's no longer a secret, it's a public secret, it's a conditional secret, that Palestine's application has the whole process complicated. As we know, there are countries that are less than enthusiastic about seeing Palestine as an Interpol member. But, despite that, we in co-ordination with key international partners are making efforts to build support as much as the app gets the right votes in Beijing”, he has said.
By contrast, the work at the assembly takes place in Beijing on September 26th to 29th. The vote will take place on 26 September, meanwhile, the Kosovo delegation will be September 25th.
Government officials have been invited to the quality of observers.
The invitation has also been made to the prime minister, Isa Mustafa, Minister Skender Hyseni, Police Director General Shpend Maximu and several other representatives of the Kosovo executive.
