Germany opposes US sanctions directed at Russian, as its energy companies are endangered

According to Schaefer, US remittances are 50 per cent more expensive compared to European reference prices.
“No one wants to pay such a price”, he said.
Last week, US President Donald Trump signed sanctions against the Russian oil and gas sector. The new move means Washington can now penalise European investors who co-operate with Russian energy projects.
Senior officials in Germany have spoken against sanctions and pledged revenge if the interests of European companies are damaged.
