Sentenced to 7 years in prison under the case “Blaca 2”, Driton Hajdari had asked the court to release him for medical treatment abroad.
In its decision on August 3rd 2017, Pristina's Constitutional Court has rejected it, calling it unfounded -- the requirement for the temporary suspension of prison sentences exercised by defender Driton Hajdari.
The defender of the convicted in June had filed a request for the Court to suspend the execution of the prison sentence, since his client was in poor health.
After that request, the court's chairman had requested from the Kosovo Hospital and University Clinic ( Sa SKUK) was to appoint a team of experts to give an opinion on the state of health of convict Driton Hajdari.
In his report, the group of forensic experts finds that the patient suffers from ammitrophic literary sclerosis and that even in spite of treatment, the disease is chronic and progressive and that in the stages of advance it is associated with new neurological damage to the central peripheral neuron engine and that treatment protocols are the same worldwide.
The “which implies that dealing with this disease is the same as in Kosovo's local public health institutions”, says the reason for the ruling of the Pristina Foundation Court, which it has secured Caloxo.com.
However, the convict's wife, Teuta Hajdari, said that although the disease is reportedly treated as if in all parts of the world, Driton is not being treated.
“Dritone is no longer healthy. The court ruling is also bad. They should give us a guarantee that Driton doesn't have life in danger of this disease. He's not being treated at all in prison, he's only using the drugs we're buying at”, Teuta Hajdari said.
She added that Driton cannot pose any risks, as it is very serious with health.
I don't know what danger it can cause, but it can't even walk... They made us suspect that they're deliberately doing it, they're killing them and the family of the Driton”, she added.
Teuta Hajdari said hello.com that Driton Hajdari's lawyer, Albert Yupoli, will file complaints about this decision.
In June of this year, it was reported that Driton Hajdari is seeking to be released from his sentence because of his illness.
His family had said that Driton's disease is not treated in Kosovo.
Under the trial of the 2012 District Court of Pristina and the act of Court of Appeals in 2013, Driton Hajdari was found guilty of serious attempted murder and sentenced to 7 years in prison.
