The singer filed a lawsuit at the New York High Court for a temporary restraining order that would prevent the auction of the New York New York house <x)

In court documents, Madona claims that until she had read the press reports, she had not been aware that the items listed at the auction, including her former boyfriend's letter, Shakur was no longer in possession of her.

The artifacts were handed over to the auction house by Darlene Lutz, which Madona describes as a former companion and artistic consultant, which, says the artist, by taking away items without permission or knowledge, had brutally betrayed her faith.

A representative of the auction house and Lutz said in a statement that Madones' attempt to stop the sale was completely unbashed and unworthy and that they would challenge its claims in court.
