In just three out of 54 African states, the low level of hunger reigns, says the newest report by the Global Uri Index, which was published today in the Ethiopian capital Adis Ababa.
The report by the African Union and the New African Development Partnership Agency (NEPAD) based on research from 2015 and 2016 in five African countries rules the alarming level of hunger.
The report warns that in 28 countries the level of hunger is serious.
In some African countries, such as Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Nigeria, more than 50 percent of children under five years of age are caught in development”, the report says.
The report also emphasises positive developments as increasing the rate of nutrients.
Executive Secretary NEPAD, Ibrahim Mayaki told AA that the issue of delay in development is as traumatic as it is critical and must urgently be resolved.
“The exercise should be a national priority. Sectors such as agriculture and health should work together”, Mayaki said.
