It takes two years tomorrow when Kosovo Police Special Units had broken down Vetevendosje headquarters to arrest its deputy and founder, Albin Kurti. That day Kurt had been arrested violently, following a long resistance from his VV supporters against the police. What if November 28, 2015, even this November 28th, it seems Kurt will spend it in prison.
Kurti had been arrested an hour after speaking at the opposition rally, which had been called in sign of opposition to the agreement to establish the Association of Serb-run municipalities and the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro. Significantly, some local and international organisations had praised the police action as unnecessary violence overcoming the competencies of police officials.
An arrest warrant was issued against Kurti because of actions during the opposition protests in Kosovo's parliament against agreements with Serbia.
In addition, police had accompanied 87 Vetevendosje activists, who were at VV headquarters at the moment of the raid by special forces, writes Periscope.
However, Kosovo police have been mobilised again to arrest Kurt even this November, and likely even this holiday will be spent in prison, namely in custody.
Last Saturday (November 25th), Kurti was arrested before the Kosovo Assembly, along with MP Albulen Haxhiu and Donika Cadaj-Bujupi, but all three were appointed house arrest measures, just one day after the 30-day detention measure was imposed.
While Sunday (26 November), Cadaj-Bujupi Kurti joined the VV festival in “Square. Skenderbeu” in Pristina to celebrate victories in Pristina and Prizren, thus breaking the measure of house arrest.
Both, after this violation, have been arrested today by Kosovo Police and have returned to custody. /Periscopi/
