One of the main figures of the Neo-Nazi National Front turns out to be gay and has discovered his Jewish heritage.
He has made discoveries about his violent past, abandoning extremism.
Kevin Wilshaw, 58, spent his entire adult life promoting white supremacy and was a high profile figure at National Front (NF) in the 1980s. This year he was arrested for hating online rations during March.
Speaking of Channel 4 News, he admitted acts of violence and racism by him, hitting a person with chairs as well as vandalizing a mosque in Aylesbury.
He said he had joined the group because he did not have many friends at school and was looking for companionship and being a “member of a group of people who had a goal of”.
Wilshaw joined the British National Party (BNP) at the age of 18 after a conflict with the NF and also clashed with violent groups such as the Racial Volunteer Force.
Wilshaw said they eventually realized that racism was “the legatus” and left the right after accepting its sexuality.
It's a terrible, selfish thing, but it's true. I saw people being abused, spit on the street, but until they turn to you, you suddenly realize what you're doing is wrong”,He said.
