The viper serpents have become a nightmare and the scary “dream of a village in northeast Turkey.
Residents, fearful of the frequent presence of poisonous snakes, which they believe are up to three metres long, have asked the State to take measures.
State news agency “Anadolu Agency” said snakes were seen in the area called Karsin Kagizman, on the banks of the Aras River.
One of the residents, Fahrettin Sahin, said dogs had killed a snake that ran up to three meters [3 m], but many others continue to circulate in the area.
“We're afraid of getting into the house and poisoning our children. Some villagers do not leave their homes out of fear. ”
And the village elder, Muhsin Bozta? He said that residents could not go to the fields only because of fear of snakes. There's a viper everywhere. We're scared because they're too poisonous. Kids don't sleep at night while they don't go out by day. ”
The head of the Directorate of Forests and Waters, Murat Doyanay, said authorities were looking for reasons after the rapid presence of vipers in the area, but on the other hand, urged residents to pay attention to them.
