In a televised address Saturday, Puigdemont said Madrid's decision to suspend the province's autonomy and appoint Spain's deputy prime minister Soraya Saenz de Santamaria as the head of Catalonia is against the will of the Catalan people, reports “RT” Transmission Periscope.

Madrid's move came after the Catalan Parliament voted to declare the region independent of the Spanish government on Friday.
