Ahmeti: DUI to win majority of Albanian municipalities

Ahmeti, in the second part of the interview given to Kosovapress, believes that even after October 15th, DUI will be the first with the number of Albanian municipalities to lead, saying they have vote hikes from last year's elections when they were held at the central level.

The DUI leader's fall in last year's parliamentary elections calls it a victim storm, but survived. However, Ahmeti does not call DUI losses, but that Albanians lost eight mandates that no one won from Albanian parties.

“Now on 15 October in Macedonia, local elections are organised, I expect a positive turn and see it during my meetings with the electorate, during my meetings with voters, sympathies, Democratic Co-operation for Integration sympathies and there is a good turn compared to the 2016 elections, the parliamentary elections that were, now we have a very positive spirit. The 2016 parliamentary elections were a very dangerous storm that, in turn, we lost nearly eight mandates, no Albanian political party won those eight mandates, but after each storm there are victims, there are also consequences. Apparently we survived this storm, citizens realised that the Democratic Union for Integration is interested in advancing issues in the Republic of Macedonia, in all areas, as in the field of domestic development as in the approach of communities and in particular in the approach of the Albanian community”, Ahmeti said.

DUI leader says his party currently leads 16 municipalities, out of 18 of the total Albanian municipalities in Macedonia. Until, Ahmeti claims that after October 15th, DUI will preserve this number of municipalities it will lead.

He even estimates that in at least five municipalities will win in the first round, while in others they expect to win in the second round.

However, Ahmeti stresses that Albanians in Macedonia do not need more than two political parties that would defend their interests in Macedonia institutions. According to him, from last year's storm the Albanians mostly suffered.

I said not by accident from the storm that we suffered casualties, and the victims were Albanians, eight mandates, Albanians are the victim of those divisions in many parties here in Macedonia, Albanians. Not once have I said, I say, even for your agency, Albanians cannot have more than two parties, and the existence of the third, fourth, event is as harmful as a party. Let two parties be in the race, the opposition position and it would be natural that we would be in a much more convenient position even to confront the side we are constantly on the run, we are on the run in the confrontation, despite many of the confrontations, debates do not make public with partners, but they remain debates and internal confrontations for further advancement of Albanians in Macedonia”, Ahmeti said.

However, Ahmeti in 2016 calls it a good lesson for Albanians to see Albanians from all that slander, that propaganda that went against DUI's up to the extreme, up to the devalvim on these trains, was just to win a piece of power. Because, he expresses himself willing that if there is evidence to open investigative files for the party he leads, if he has misused the citizens' trust.

The division of Albanians, according to Ahmeti, is happening because of some people's personal ambitions, but also foreign service investment, especially Russia, which is present in Macedonia.

The truth is, there are different ambitions, someone thinks he's smarter, someone thinks he's replaced Zeus' head, invested in foreign services. Take a look at the Presevo Valley, take a look at Great Mountain in Montenegro, there are seven or eight parties, while there are 40 thousand Albanians, for me it is unreasonable. The best slogan is shared and Sundo, and efforts have also been made in Macedonia that best rule Albanians is to work with divided Albanians. But I'm saying again that I'm pretty sure, optimistic that things have moved well and I think we're gonna do fine. Why don't I just say that Macedonia is at a crossroads, and you've noticed that there's always been an accident at a crossroads. If you have been able to convey reactions to developments in Macedonia, your Kremlin is very active in the past two years, Moscow is always going out for every movement, for every incident and accident they know exactly where it happened and how it happened”, Ahmeti points out.

DUI leader Ali Ahmeti, however, has called for quiet elections and massive citizens' exits to exploit their right to vote.
