Një seri fotografish janë publikuar nga një fotografe ku shfaq Nju Jorkun e viteve të 1930-ta. Fotografja Berenice Abbott ka shfaqur ndryshimin e Nju Jorkut, projektin e saj të madh për të dokumentuar Nju Jorkun, në Projektin e Artit Federal (FAP) në vitin 1935.

FAP i kishte takuar programit qeveritar të erës depresive për artistët dhe të papunët që i përkisnin fushave të ngjashme si reklamimi, dizajni grafik, ilustrimi, fotografimi dhe botues.

Abbott kishte fotografuar skutat, dyqanet, udhëtarët në zonat e brendshme të qytetit të madh, raporton “DailyMail”, transmeton Periskopi.

Qëllimi i saj ishte të fotografonte materialet urbane, kulturën dhe ndërtimet në Nju Jork, duke dokumentuar të vjetrën para se të ishte shkatërruar dhe duke regjistruar ndërtimet e reja.

Ajo kishte plasuar 305 foto si pjesë e projektit ndërmjet viteve 1935 dhe 1939.

Përpjekjet e Abbottit rezultuan në një libër më 1939, përpara panairit të botës në Nju Jork.

Në përfundim të projektit, FAP shpërndau kompletet e imazheve të Abbottit në shkollat e mesme, bibliotekat dhe institucionet e tjera publike në zonën metropolitane./Periskopi/
