Serbian Arrested Under War Crimes Suspects

M.D. has been arrested on the orders of special prosecutor Florije Salihu-Zaloli, after several months of investigation into co-operation with war crimes investigators.

According to investigation, M. D, it is suspected that in the quality of the Police Unit Commander in this region, under the MUP, the 1998/1999 unit has participated in the murder, deportation, robbery, torture, beating of Albanian civilians.

It is alleged that during April 1999, the M.D. defendant, along with Serb forces organized in structured formations, including the Yugoslav Army and the Serbian Police, participated in the operation in the village of Dzeja, where seven civilians had been killed.
