Democratic League of Kosovo Chairman Lumir Abdixhiku has called for an urgent meeting of all Albanian parliamentary parties to discuss the election of Kosovo's new president.
He at RTV Dukagjini has stressed that the responsibility for electing the president belongs to all and that no party should avoid this process.
We're on February 19th, we're less than 2 weeks. To have either new elections or new president. If in two weeks Kosovo doesn't elect the president with automation it goes. The sooner we meet, the better. And when I say we meet, it's best to meet all Albanian parliamentary parties”.
“and see which are the interests and opportunities to make the way forward. If there is abstention by political parties, if a party says I don't want to deal with this job at all not to become a moral party on this subject. That he's being held accountable. And the responsibility for the president belongs to all of us. We have to sit down to determine future president”, the LDK head stressed
March 4th is the last date when Kosovo's Assembly must vote for president/en with a five-year term.
Even though all political parties speak of the need for a consensus figure and co-operation, so far there are no concrete names publicly proposed.
