Times of New Haven, which organises numerous local events and tours, held the record effort Friday in New Haven Green.
Each participants served two slices of pizza and the rules of the Guinness world record required that they be completed at a certain time.
The festival ended with a total of 4,525 participants, breaking the 3,357 record set by world pizza champions in Tulsa in 2023.
“New Haven has once again demonstrated his pizza primacy and why Elm City is the capital of domestic pizzas and the world”, New Haven Mayor Justin Heller said in social media.
“With 4,525 participants in the pizza party, love of pizza and New Haven was literally tangible and in clear display”, he added.
