The European Union is neither aware nor involved in the two bridges construction project on the Iber River parallel to the main one. So said a European Union spokesperson for the Express Journal for the project that is pushing Albin Kurti's incumbent government forward.

The European Union says any construction decision regarding this bridge should be made carefully and including communities.

“The EU is neither aware nor involved in this project. Any decision on building infrastructure over the Iber River should be carefully and inclusively taken, including fully all affected communities”, the EU spokesman has said.

Albin Kurti's Vetevendosje movement has published a photo of the project aimed at living where two bridges are seen that would link south with Albanian majority and Serb-run north.

The move came days after the establishment of the joint board of North Mitrovica and South Mitrovica.

The “Memorandum of Co-operation between the MMPHI and the municipality of northern Mitrovica began with the project for the construction of two new bridges on the Iber River linking south and northern Mitrovica. This project will facilitate citizens' circulation and serve as communications, integration and development infrastructure between the two parts of the city. This was highlighted during the signing meeting between Minister Lieburn Aliu and President Erden Attic, attended by Minister Elbert Krasniqi and Deputy Prime Minister Hysen Durmishi”.

The construction of these two bridges was seen as an attempt by Kurt's government to replace the failed plan to open the Ibër Bridge for vehicle flow, which stood by the international community.

Last summer on the Ibër Bridge, procedures were initiated for testing the Ibër Bridge's supporting power as a step ahead of its opening for vehicle flow, and heavy - weighted trucks were sent there.

For the opening of the Ibër Bridge, the internationals demanded that it be discussed at the dialogue table and the same position had been held by KFOR, who is located on the bridge.

However, these efforts ended without any results. /Periscopi/
