United Kingdom Foreign Secretary David Lami said the current tensions between India and Pakistan are a “serious concern”.

The United Kingdom government is calling on India and Pakistan to show restraint and engage in direct dialogue to find a quick and diplomatic path before”, he said in a statement Wednesday.

Lami said the UK had a close and unique relationship with both countries, reports CNN.

“I've made it clear to my counterparts in India and Pakistan that if this escalates further, nobody wins”, he said.

The United Kingdom was clear in condemning the terrible terrorist attack on Pahalgam last month. We need all sides to work urgently to see the restoration of regional stability and to ensure the protection of civilians”, he added.

Lami also said the safety of British citizens in the region was our “priority”, adding that the UK's foreign office was closely monitoring developments./Periscopi/
