President Osmani, through a Facebook post, has said that “sot, at the Basilica “Shen Peter” in the Vatican, along with President Begaj, the only Albanian cardinal, Ernest Simon and our delegations, made pray for His Holiness, Pope Francescu, to express the respect of our citizens to his inspiring devotion for peace, human harmony and dignity across the world”.
Pope Francis changed his life on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88, as a result of a stroke and irreversible heart failure, according to the Vatican's official announcement.
The weekly ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10: 00 a.m. St. Peter's Vatican Square, led by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, dean of the College of Cardinals.
According to his wish, Pope Francisescu will be buried in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggior, instead of traditional Vatican crypts.
After the funeral, the period of nine-day mourning known as “novdiales” will begin, during which the Mass will be held in his honor.
Meanwhile, Concordia for the election of the new pope is expected to begin 5 May.
