The idea that the human brain reaches full maturity at the age of 18.
A New Study Published in the prestigious magazine Nature CommunicationsIt shows that brain development continues for many years after entering the age of law.
Researchers analyzed the brain activity of more than 3,000 individuals, from newborn babies to 90-year-old adults. Through this analysis, they identified five major stages of brain development, which are characterized by significant structural and functional changes. According to the results, these changes do not stop in their late teens, but continue until about the age of 32.
One of the main findings is that brain areas responsible for decision making, impulse control, and long - term planning are among the last to reach full maturity. This may explain why youths, while legally considered adults, often continue to develop important emotional and cognitive skills in later years.
This study has important implications not only for science but also for the way society understands growth, responsibility, and education. It suggests that personal and mental development is a long and complex process, not ending with the filling of 18 years. /Periscope/
