Says the study: Genesis Z wants less sex in movies and serials

According to a new study, hot teenage comedy and sex - content dramas are losing popularity among Geneva audiences Z.

According to new data from UCLA's UCLA Centre for Research and Indicators, Geneva Viewer Z are tired of sexual content on screen.

Published this week, the American university's annual report “Teens & Screens”, entitled “, be Real: Relability on Demand” surveyed 1,500 young people and teenagers between 10 and 24 years of age in the US during August.

It reveals how Geneva Z wants access and authentic representation in the media, with 59.7% saying that “want to see more content where the central relationships are the friendships”; 54.1% who claim to see “portirisations of characters who are not interested in romantic relations at that moment”; and 48.4 percent of teen viewers say there are “so much sex and sexual content” in modern movies and television shows.

In fact, romance was listed in a list of topics young people wanted to see explored on the screen. Toxic relations and love triangles were also listed among the most annoying topics for young viewers.

Instead, Geneva Z has a preference for animation compared to action films ʹ increasing from 42 per cent in 2024 to 48.5 per cent this year.

These results should not come as a surprise, since studying The UCLA of 2023 already showed an added trend from Genesis Z to the narrators focused on Platonic relations instead of sexual explosives.
