This strange claim was first reported in French news magazine Paris Match by two investigative journalists.
According to the report, members of the president's Federal Defence Service (FPS) are responsible for collecting waste in specialised packages, which are then placed in a bag dedicated to the return trip home. Public Security Service (FSB) is the department tasked with protecting senior state officials, including the president.
Journalists Regis Gente, author of two books on Russia, and Mikhail Rubin, who has covered the events in Russia for more than a decade, reported that such examples of garbage collection were recorded during Putin's visit to France on May 29, 2017, and during his trip to Saudi Arabia in October 2019. This practice is suspected of being carried out to prevent foreign powers from collecting information on the health of the Russian leader.
Former BBC reporter Farida Rustamova confirmed the report, claiming he knew of a similar incident in Vienna and that Putin had previously used “a special private bathroom”. She quoted an unidentified source, who said the president had implemented this practice since the beginning of his leadership.
Putin's health has been a hot topic of speculation and discussion since his decision to invade Ukraine on February 24th. A number of unconfirmed reports claim the 69-year-old suffers from cancer and that his health condition is deteriorating at a fast pace.
An FSB officer has claimed Putin “has no longer had more than two to three years to life”, adding that the Russian president suffers from “a serious form of cancer that advances at a speed of”.
The claims have also been strengthened by images showing the president trembling uncontrollably, which has caused rumors on the Internet that he could suffer from Parkinson's disease. /Periscopi/
