The government of Northern Macedonia has expressed regret over the incident that took place yesterday at Skopje Airport, which included Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani.

The government's response reportedly has already requested information from all competent institutions regarding yesterday's event.

After analyzing the collected data, they say the necessary measures will be taken to avoid such situations.

The Republic of Northern Macedonia and the Republic of Kosovo maintain positive and constructive bilateral relations and co-operation, with no open issues and honest and ongoing dialogue at all levels and in all areas. In this context, we express our regret for misunderstandings occurred during the yesterday's trip of President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani to the international airport in Skopje. We stress that the Republic of Northern Macedonia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade has already requested information from all competent institutions concerning yesterday's event. After an adequate analysis of data collected in direct co-operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, all necessary activities and measures will be undertaken, aimed at avoiding such or similar phenomena and situations in the future”, it is said in response.

Kosovo's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora today has presented protest marks to northern Macedonia authorities about the incident.

MPJD has requested immediate and complete clarification of the incident.

“At the same time, it is required that Macedonian authorities take immediate measures to investigate the case and ensure that such events are not repeated in the future”, the report said.

Osmani was reportedly faced with inadequate and illegal treatment by airport security members.

Regarding this incident, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diasporas Donika Grovalla has met with North Macedonia's ambassador to Kosovo recently after the incident and also today, demanding clarification on the case. Also, Minister Gervala has implemented a meeting in the MPJ with the deputy prime minister of Northern Macedonia today, Mr. Arben Fetai, with whom they have discussed the incident in question and the need to take quick institutional action”, notes the report.
