The country's prime minister, Albin Kurti, notes that 10 years ago the Serbian Defence Ministry declared state secret documents on Kosovo's activities of the Yugoslav Army's 37th Motorised Brigade and that this decision made on July 31st 2014 prevents the dawning of painful truth concerning the killings of Albanian civilians and the hiding of their troops in mass graves in Serbia.

Through a Facebook post, Kurti stresses that under the agreement reached on May 2nd of last year in Brussels, we reiterate the demand for opening archives in Serbia.

“We have already submitted several requests regarding the opening of the 37th UK Motorised Brigade archive, responsible for many massacres in the Drenica region”.

The Serbian state's decision to classified these documents as classified for 30 years is an attempt to conceal crimes committed. It is also a clear indication that Serbia, while standing on the graves of murdered Albanian civilians, has shown no sign of regret for atrocities committed in Kosovo”, Kurti writes.

He says that this act constitutes a violation of human rights, the right of families to know the truth, and cannot afford to bring about justice. Also, by keeping these documents secret, Serbia is not being distanced from the Milosevic regime and its genocide crimes in Kosovo.

“Only through the enlightenment of truth and the responsible holder of perpetrators can lasting justice and peace in the region” be achieved, the head of the government further stressed in his post.
