According to Krasniqi, this is the most negative assessment ever.
And that's why he's filed a government headed by Albin Kurti.
The Government's growing pressure on independent media and targeting our country's journalists is a growing threat to press freedom and free speech. These acts of power are an indication of a greater trend, more disturbing towards media repression and political interference. Such violations threaten the fundamental principles of democracy and silence critical voices that are needed for the healthy functioning of our society and state, he has written among other things.
Here's the full reaction:
Today, on World Press Freedom Day, I express solidisation and full support with all journalists in Kosovo. Journalists, media workers have historically maintained standards, integrity and high courage even in the darkest times of our country. Therefore, recent developments in Kosovo, though at freedom, present a picture and a very disturbing situation for free media.
This year, Kosovo has lost 19 seats in the Press Freedom Index, in the report compiled by the organisation “Reporters Without Borders” The most negative assessment ever! Government pressure on independent media and targeting our country's journalists is a growing threat to freedom of the press and free speech.

Journalists in Kosovo are more than just news providers; they are advocates of truth and justice, often putting their welfare at risk. Providing a secure, dignified environment and with better working conditions should be a priority for them.
I call on the Government to interrupt the violation and persecution of our country's free journalists and media. Journalists must continue to work without fear of revenge, censorship or persecution.
For Kosovo journalists: we see your sustainability and commitment. Your work is essential now more than ever in trying to keep the light on transparency, accountability and democratic integrity. Don't stop!
Happy Day of yours.
