Under the new Law on Road Traffic Rules, which has entered into force from April 3rd, pedestrians have been forbidden to use telephones when crossing the road, tape, or bicycle paths or rails.
The penalty for violating this ban is 50 euros.
Kosovo police have called on pedestrians and drivers not to use the phone when part of the traffic.
“Passing the road, tape, or track path, infantry is not allowed to use mobile phone, use of listeners in ears or other similar devices that may confuse it. Disrespecting this rule is fined by 50 euros”, the police call said.
Drivers have been urged that while running, they are barred from wearing a hand phone and other equipment that would reduce the possibility of a safe response and direction of the vehicle.
“Disrespect of this rule is punished by mass and fines: 1 point negative and fine 100 euros, when it acts for the first time in violation of the rule, 2 points negative, 3 months stopping in the direction of the motor vehicle and 200 euros fine when it acts for the second time, 3 points negative, 6 months stopping in the direction of the motor vehicle and 500 euros in fine when it acts for the third time”, the call to the Police.
