Trump threatens with tough action if Israeli hostages are not freed from Gaza

Newly elected American President Donald Trump requested on Monday that hostages taken in the Israeli-led attack on Hamas be released from Gaza prior to his inauguration in January, or that there will be “fer to pay” in the Middle East for those responsible. Writing in Truth, and not mentioning any militant group, Trump said in his post: “if the hostages are not released before January 20, 2025, the date I proudly take office as president of the United States, there will be hell to pay in the Middle East for those responsible for committing these atrocities against humanity. Those responsible will be hit harder than anyone has been hit in the long history and confession of the United States of America. Release the hostages now”
The Beden administration has been working since last year with Israel and international mediators, including Qatar and Egypt, for a ceasefire agreement that would include the release of hostages, Telegraph broadcast.
It was not clear how tactical Trump could get. Israel has killed many of the leaders of Hamas and thousands of its warriors while destroying most of Gaza.
Trump said in his post Monday, “this is all conversation and no action” when it comes to hostages, and his statement suggesting he can use the power of his office to punish those who took the captives is the first sign and how aggressively he can handle the Middle East policy when he resumes office.
