On November 14th, the trial will begin in the Specialised Chambers against Sabit Yanuz, Ismet Bahitari and Haxhi Shala. They are accused of obstructing official persons in performing official duties and intimidation during criminal procedures.
The Specialised Chambers have announced that between April 5th and April 13th of 2024, at Shala's order, Januzi and Bahhitari have met with a witness in two cases to encourage him to withdraw the testimony. This is said to have been done through serious threat and promise of a gift or some other form of profit.
“on November 14th, the chief judge will open the trial, request reading the charges for the accused, inform them of rights and obligations, and ask if they have understood the Aktakuza and if they want to confirm their earlier plea as innocent. Afterwards, the SPS will submit the opening statement, followed by Januzi's entry statements and Shala Defence. As the respective parties have requested, the Judicial Chamber has planned two hours for the SPS's entry statement, an hour for the Januzi's entry defence declaration and 30 minutes for Shala's entry defence declaration”, the communiqué says.
It was stressed there that Bahhitari's defence will hold opening statements.
On December 9th, the Specialised Prosecutor's Office will start presenting evidence and calling witnesses.
