Analyst and one of the founders of the Democracy Policy Council, Kurt Bassuener, in an interview for “Public Square” of Ditmir Busati also spoke of elections in the United States and possible impact in the Western Balkans region.

Bassuener has said he is terribly afraid whether Donald Trump will win the election, since according to the DPS analyst, it was not enough to see what happened in his first term.

In this interview, Bassuener says the Trump Administration was open to the idea of partitioning Kosovo and adds they wanted any agreements that could be calculated as a Trump victory in foreign policy.

I'm so scared if Donald Trump wins, after seeing enough what happened the first time. Yeah. There was a continuator in transactionism, but at least, the Biden administration went against partitioning Kosovo, which the Trump administration was open to when it was proposed by Vuciq, Thaci and supported by Moghrin. I think this was a hidden agenda when Vuchyk and Grenelli tried to negotiate something. And they wanted any agreement that would give a Trump victory in foreign policy”, Bassuener said of “Public Square”,

He also points out that Trump is a Balkan politician, since it works with the same system and according to Bassuener, the reactors are looking forward to Trump's arrival because they think they're going to do whatever they want.

“Later, we have seen Kouchner's business agreement and Ivanka Trump in Vlora and Belgrade, co-directed with Richard Green. I call Trump our first Balkan president, as he had exactly the same operating system, without the boundaries of separation between family and public affairs, or the exercise of official office. I think all reactionors from the region are waiting for Trump to come back, because they think they'll have the opportunity to do whatever they want, he says.

Member of The DPS says that when it comes to Kamala Harris is different, since she has no knowledge of the Balkans, however, adds that Philip Gordon as her security adviser is familiar with the Western Balkans, since he was also a secretary assistant during Obama's time.

“With Harris exists a kind of question, as it does not have a recognition or profile in the Balkans, unlike its current chief. We know Philip Gordon is her national security adviser and he is familiar with the region. He knows things, but he's very oriented towards a prudent foreign policy. He was assistant secretary in President Obama's first administration when things entered this trajectory. In fact, it started before the end of the Bush administration, but it really accelerated under Obama's direction for eight years, and then Trump came, and then Biden”, Bassuener said.
