Experts: Policy News Hurts Your Heart

A study published in the magazine “Plus One” has analysed the physical and emotional effects of civic engagement on politics through news.

According to the study, people are losing sleep and are anxious because of politics.

How is the organism affected?

Kevin Smith of the University of Nebraska, who has conducted the study, says politics has a strong and negative effect on human mental well-being. After interviews with 800 people involved in the study, analysts found that 40 percent of them were stressed by politics.

The study showed that in 20 percent of cases, political disagreements were the cause of the breakdown of many friendships. 4 percent of the people interviewed admitted that they had feelings that motivated them to suicide because of politics.

11.5 percent said that they had health problems from it. 31.8 percent admitted that television, whose editorial policy conflicts with their political views, made them feel crazy.

“Politics has a very negative impact on human lives. The way people perceive politics affects their lives in a very meaningful and strong way”, said Smith.

Stress has decreased over people's lives and has a terrible impact on their lives.
