Half a year from close to the corrupts of Kurt's deputy minister, there is no reaction against the evidence

On January 12th, the newspaper Insander published the audio-inction that testifies to the involvement of Deputy Regional Development Minister in the vicinity of corruption. It's a government grant of tens of thousands of euros.

“... does he tell you how much he can? ”... that these guys without giving you something don't do anything”. There are some parts of the conversation that Deputy Minister of Regional Development Almir Veliji makes more of a person (known name for Insider) and talk about a bribery affair.

Audio-incision provided by Insander newspaper is also in possession of the Kosovo Police, who even confirmed they are investigating the case.

“Referenced your request, we can confirm that Kosovo Police possess the information, as well as that it is in the initial phase of investigations in co-operation with the Constitutional Prosecutor in Pristina”, the Police's response to the Insander Journal said.

This audio-incision, among other things, testifies that this government grant of tens of thousands of euros, Deputy Minister Veliji, had also held calls.

He even owned the citizen's paper that was in the process of obtaining the grant, which would cover some of the investment, as the rest had covered with personal investments.

All that was missing in this process, according to the conversation that is taking place between the X person and Almir Velij, remains the definition of the bribe price that the government grant would be granted.

Since 2021 a series of cases of misuse of government grants have been investigated by the Prosecutor. A portion of them have already been deposited in the Court with an indictment.

The last case was that of December last year where the Special Prosecution filed charges at the Constitutional Court in Pristina against 15 indictees in the case known “Subventions II”

Case “Subventions I” in September 2022 also had a review session at the Court of Appeals, since in April of that year the Constitutional Court in Pristina had declared a conviction case against seven indictees who had been sentenced to 6 years and 1 months in prison and 2 thousand euros in fines.

This audio-incision provided by the Insander newspaper speaks of nearly 70 thousand euros in state money to be given as a government grant, but co- talkers do not reach the point of determining the price of bribery, but are defined as not doing the job without bribery.

The same problem is presented by Deputy Prime Minister Veliji when he addresses the X person, telling him that <x0 he's been saying exactly what he can't exactly?

That person reports to the deputy minister, showing him that the citizen who applied for the government grant has invested nearly 30 thousand euros in his design and expects an additional 70 thousand from the grant, which Veliji claims.

Although Deputy Minister Veliji says that he has not taken this form of mediation, he is convinced that without giving something, he cannot continue to apply.

In a later conversation, Deputy Prime Minister Veliji admits he received the app directly for this grant.

By the end of November 2022, the same deputy minister was publicly denounced for another relative who was accused of involvement in bribery and who received money in the bag.

Sir, sir. Minister, I invited you at your request to visit Switzerland. I took all the guarantees and made money deposits so that you could equip yourself with visas. I paid you your ticket. I waited for you at Basel Airport and sent you to the hotel in Zurich. I made you a hotel reservation, but you paid the hotel yourself, that's the truth! I drove you to Zurich, brought you to lunch and coffee. Have you forgotten that I bought you three pairs of suits, shoes and ties? Have you forgotten lunches and coffees in Kosovo? Did you forget when I sent you money for the Wsterunion? Did you forget I gave it to you at CHE Bar, $3,500 wrapped in a bag? You needed a lot because of the debts you had to pay back for stealing from your political subject”, Binak Sylaj wrote on his profile, as Insander reported.

Syla in this post also mentioned involvement in bribery for grants.

The newspaper Inseder had also published the reaction of Almir Velij. 18:14 ) November 24, 2022. He's told of the Inside Journal that everything that Syla said is true except for the bribery job.

I'm very clean, and that's why I'm very happy. It's not true that I took a bribe, and that's why I'm going to sue the person in question since tomorrow through my lawyer”, Veliji said about Insender.

In February, Prime Minister Kurti announced at one of the Assembly hearings, defending the deputy minister caught in bribery.

Kurti was asked by AAK MP Albana Bytyqi gave several reasons why she is not dismissing the briber, Almir Veliji.

“The investigation case from Inseder newspaper where the deputy minister of Regional Development is heard talking about bribery and manipulation, misusing position was not conveyed by any response from Kosovo prime minister, so what is your position on this relationship of corruption and what decision you will make. Will it be downloaded?

As always, even for this case near Kurt tried to blame past governments.

For these cases, order organs should do their job because they started it. I'm not aware whether the deputy minister asked for or received a bribe, except to argue that the commission of those grants doesn't give grants without getting anything. I don't know when that conversation was made, but if it happened earlier, so before our government it could also stand as a conspiracy because we saw dozens of arrests involving corruption, in distributing grants to past governments”, he said in the Assembly.

Meanwhile, the MP redeployed Kurt again, urging him to take concrete action for “the corruption fight”.

Insander has also sought answers from Pristina's Founding Prosecutor to understand how far the investigations have gone, but the same have not returned answers.
