The World Federation of Obezity has suggested that more than half the population will suffer from overweight, and this is expected to happen by 2035. Meanwhile, more than 4 billion people, including children, have been affected by obesity.
Low-income, or medium-sized countries on continents like Africa and Asia are expected to see greater growth of people suffering from overweight, says the study, and according to it, the cost of obesity will reach more than $4 trillion a year, up to 2035.
Professor Louise Baur, who is also president of the federation, said the report should serve as a clear preemptive for countries that pose risks and such consequences in the future. Bour said the trend is disturbing and the <x0) governments around the world have to do everything is possible to avoid increasing health, social and economic costs in the new generation and assess key systems and factors contributing to obesity”.
The report particularly highlighted the rising rates of overweight, present among children and teenagers, which are expected to double. The countries that are most at risk are low incomes, since they are less capable of controlling the effects of obesity.
And in Europe, the most endangered countries are: Ukraine, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Global Obsessary Map showed that in our country, about 37% of adults will suffer from overweight until 2035.
According to the study, the likelihood is that obesity in Albania will increase by 6.7% in children and by 2.6% in adults.
